I present to you the Space Marine named Calas Typhon of the world Barbarus, the Herald of Nurgle and the host of the terrible plague known as the Destroyer Hive. 

A Champion of Chaos and the former First Captain of the Death Guard Traitor Legion. The most feared of all Chaos Lords to commander of the legendary Plague Fleets. He rules the Death Guard's armada from the bridge of his flagship, the Terminus Est!

I used the hairspray and salt technique and it is a time consuming and for me useless method. I'm not that good with a air brush and its way much easier to use pigments. I went wild and made the Rhino dirty as hell.
Still some stuff to do on the bases and maybe some fine lining on the rusty parts and of course the Warlord Typhus (ordered, not delivered)

Grandfather Nurgle part II

First things first.
This is a jump start on the goal for May, i know. But as it is soon a lot of work hitting me in the face, i need to get a head start!

Salt and hairspray... Crapad00dle!

Tried out a air brush for the first time and it is as the say on some 'learn how to page' If you think of all your hours with a brush, why should you master the air brush from the get go?

Because i WANT to, that's why!

Anyway, learned this by doing it wrong:

Spray on a distance
Use small grained salt or grind your big flakes.
HOT water and a gentle brush
Don't overdo it.
Use rust pigments instead, much easier, less time, less mess...

And when you use pigments, its also a new skill, DAMN IT !

The goal for Tale of X Gamers this May is:
A squad of old renegade miniatures representing Death Guard and a Rhino to transport them. I will try to use the Salt and Hairspray technique for the rust and decay of body, soul and metal.

Finished, Yay !

This is a tribute to all my long hours in the 90's trying to make the the darkness show in my Chaos models. I want this army to be dark and gruesome, true to the myth and easy to paint... (oh well) 

The first unit that stands ready are: 
Khornate Berzerkers:
8 of them, red, black and brass. 

Made in an attempt to speed paint and some eye candy. I don't use transfers, i don't like em! And i want the drawing to be sketchy and look painted. A tribute of old and a nice chaos feature in my pow and most of them variants of the Eye of Horus. 

Thoughts are to use the black rims as a base color as Horus first legion walked by the name Lunar Wolves (White armor/Black rims) You will hopefully see a few more things inspired by the Lunar wolves and hopefully it will blend in nicely. Though as Berzerkers, they don't really blend in, they are red...

Used red as base, black wash.
Trying to make the black more bluish-black rather than grey
White is plain and dirty, as meant to.
Brass is aged, what, do you really think the warp will make brass shine like gold... ohh nope, not in my book! oh, pics you say?

A hopefully acceptable tabletop-standard on this one. When taking macro-pics of your figs you really see all the touch-ups you should do. But hey, they come to battle, not to do your hair :)
